The United States Proof Sets, much like their Mint Set brethren, consist of one proof-version of each coin struck in each denomination released into circulation during that year. 1973 US Denver Mint set 1 cent up to 1- sealed pack. This is accomplished by using a specialized minting process in which they are double struck, leaving the coins with an absolutely razor sharp image and a deep mirror-like field. Two 1964 US Mint silver proof sets, Denver and Philadelphia Mints. The Proof Set contains the highest quality coins struck each year by the United States Mint. The Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, and Franklin Half Dollar were struck in the standard composition of 90 silver and 10 copper. From 1794 to 1947, half-dollars were made of silver and decorated with an allegorical image that symbolized liberty on the obverse. The half dollar has a rich history beginning in 1794. The Kennedy half dollar was first minted in 1964 to commemorate President John F. After the 1947 sets sold out, 1948-dated sets were offered to the public. The five different denominations were represented by one example each from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. The first Uncirculated Mint sets, with coins dated 1947, were offered in 1948. The 1964 mint set was also the first year of the Kennedy Half Dollar as circulating coinage…giving this set the dual distinction of being both the last 90% silver mint set while also having the only Uncirculated 90% Silver Kennedy that was not released in a special collectors set! The contents of each 1963 Mint Set included ten coins with a face value of 1.82. The 1964 United States Mint set includes six silver coins: the Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter and Kennedy Half Dollar from both the Philadelphia & Denver Mints. This change made the pair of sets minted in 1964 the last of their kind and an absolute collector’s dream!
